Bogotá City Tour with Bolivar Square, Botero, Gold Museum and Monserrate
Thursday, July 23, 2026
Bogotá City Tour with Bolivar Square, Botero, Gold Museum and Monserrate
Start Time:
10:00
Duration: 6 hrs.
Ascend to Monserrate for panoramic views of the high-altitude capital before wandering through the textured alleys of La Candelaria. Encounter Botero''s voluminous art and the glittering pre-Hispanic legacies housed within the iconic Gold Museum.
Bogotá sits at a dizzying 2,600 m (8,530 ft) above sea level, where the cool Andean air meets a restless urban energy. This city is a patchwork of colonial history and contemporary grit, a place where the sophisticated and the raw exist in a constant, vibrant friction. To understand Colombia, one must first navigate the pulse of its capital—a city that guards the nation’s historical weight while looking forward with intellectual curiosity.
The journey begins with an ascent to the sanctuary of Monserrate, standing at 3,150 m (10,335 ft). From this vantage point, the sprawling city appears as an endless sea of brick and concrete framed by the deep green of the eastern hills. Descend into the cobbled heart of La Candelaria, where narrow, textured streets and vibrant murals lead to Chorro de Quevedo, the city''s rhythmic birthplace. Walk through the halls of the Museo Botero, where the exaggerated proportions of Fernando Botero’s work offer an eloquent critique of conventional beauty. In the monumental Plaza de Bolívar, the heavy stone of the Primary Cathedral and the National Capitol ground the experience in the country’s complex political narrative.
The exploration culminates at the Gold Museum, home to a rhythmic and vast display of ancestral metalwork. These artifacts are not just gold; they are the eloquent voices of indigenous cultures that shaped this territory long before the modern era. Walking through these spaces reveals a Bogotá that is both ancient and urgent—a city where every street corner and golden breastplate tells a story of resilience and contemporary identity. This is the essential Bogotá, a city that rewards the curious traveler with a profound connection to the heart of the Andes.

Zipaquira Salt Cathedral
Start Time:
09:00
Duration: 6 hrs.
Descend 180 m (591 ft) into the depths of a salt mountain to discover a monumental cathedral carved from rock, then walk the storied colonial streets of Zipaquirá to sample regional flavors and ancestral history.
Beneath the rolling hills of the Cundinamarca highlands lies a legacy carved by hands that understood the deep rhythm of the earth. The Zipaquirá Salt Cathedral is not merely a temple; it is a profound intersection of geological time and human devotion. Originally a site of mineral labor for Muisca ancestors and later for generations of miners, these tunnels now breathe with a quiet, solemn dignity that honors the persistence of those who worked the dark, saline veins of the mountain.
Descend 180 m (591 ft) into the cool, still air of the subterranean galleries. The path stretches for approximately 1.5 km (0.9 mi) through textured corridors where the walls glitter with raw mineral deposits. Dramatic lighting illuminates the Via Crucis, a series of fourteen stations where contemporary sculpture emerges from the rugged salt rock. The journey reaches its peak in the grand nave, where the sheer scale of the chambers and the play of blue and violet light against the salt-hewn walls create a dense, contemplative atmosphere.
Returning to the surface, the transition leads to the colonial core of Zipaquirá. Here, the architecture stands as a national monument, with well-preserved facades that speak to centuries of history. Walking through the main square reveals a vibrant local life where the scent of traditional baked goods anchors the experience in the present. This journey from the depths of the earth to the rhythmic life of the plaza offers a complete portrait of Colombian resilience and craftsmanship.

Climb the granite monolith of El Peñol for expansive views over a vast lacustrine landscape. Walk the vibrant streets of Guatapé, where hand-painted zócalos narrate the history and rhythm of this lakeside Andean community.
In the eastern highlands of Antioquia, the territory reveals a deep connection between geology and community. The massive granite monolith of El Peñol stands as a silent guardian over a landscape transformed by the creation of a vast reservoir. This region, once purely agrarian, now pulses with a rhythmic balance between the raw power of the stone and the decorative artistry of the nearby town of Guatapé.
The ascent requires a steady pace up 708 concrete steps built into a natural fissure in the rock. As the altitude reaches 2,220 m (7,283 ft), the air cools and the horizon expands, revealing a textured mosaic of deep blue water and green islands. At the summit, the scale of the Peñol-Guatapé dam becomes clear, offering an eloquent view of the flooded valleys and the winding contours of the land that define this part of the Andes.
Below, the town of Guatapé welcomes visitors with a display of local identity expressed through color and form. Every house is adorned with zócalos—hand-painted bas-reliefs that depict flowers, animals, and the daily labors of the families who live there. Cartagena City Tour with San Felipe Castle and La Popa Convent
Start Time:
15:00
Duration: 4 hrs.
Traverse the architectural evolution of Cartagena, from the panoramic Monastery of La Popa to the colonial tunnels of San Felipe. Uncover the rhythmic soul of the Walled City and the vibrant murals of the Getsemaní neighborhood.
Cartagena reveals itself through a landscape of coral stone, salt-thick air, and a history that echoes through its massive fortifications. The journey begins atop the Cerro de la Popa, rising 150 m (492 ft) above the sea, where the XVII-century monastery offers a quiet perspective on the city’s expansion. From this height, the layout of the bay becomes clear, providing a necessary context for the strategic grit of the Castillo de San Felipe. This formidable fortress stands as a testament to colonial engineering, where narrow tunnels and steep ramps whisper stories of defense and survival against the unrelenting Caribbean horizon.
Descending into the Historic Center, the atmosphere shifts from military stone to the vibrant texture of daily life. Beneath the Clock Tower and across the Plaza de la Aduana, the city’s past as a commercial and human hub feels immediate. The scent of roasted coffee and the bright acidity of fresh fruit juices fill the air near the San Pedro Claver Church. Moving through the Plaza de Bolívar, the architecture frames a civic history that remains central to the city’s identity. In the shade of Centenario Park, the slow movement of resident sloths and iguanas provides a moment of natural stillness before the urban rhythm picks up again.
The exploration concludes in Getsemaní, a neighborhood where the spirit of Cartagena is most vocal. Once a colonial suburb, it now stands as a canvas for contemporary expression, where flowers spill over balconies and street art tells stories of identity and change. This district captures the essence of a city that honors its ancestral foundations while embracing a rhythmic, ever-evolving future. Walking these streets reveals how Cartagena persists as a living territory, shaped by the memory of its walls and the eloquence of its people.

Gondola Trip in the Mangroves of La Boquilla in Cartagena - Cartagena Airport Transfer Out - Flight Ticket
Wednesday, August 5, 2026
Gondola Trip in the Mangroves of La Boquilla in Cartagena
Start Time:
09:00
Duration: 3 hrs.
Navigate the serene mangrove tunnels of the Ciénaga de la Virgen in a traditional canoe. Discover how the Afro-Colombian community of La Boquilla restored this vibrant ecosystem, offering a rhythmic encounter with Cartagena’s essential coastal wildlife.
Just north of Cartagena's modern skyline, the Afro-Colombian village of La Boquilla preserves a rhythmic way of life rooted in the water. For generations, this community has maintained a deep connection to the sea, yet it was their collective action that saved their most vital resource from decline. By reclaiming the mangroves from neglect, the local fishermen transformed their territory into a model of environmental stewardship, ensuring that the snook, mojarra, and the heritage they represent continue to thrive in these coastal wetlands.
Step into a traditional wooden canoe and glide into the dense tunnels of the Ciénaga de la Virgen. The air cools as the mangrove canopy closes overhead, leaving only the sound of the paddle dipping into the brackish water. In this labyrinth of roots and reflections, the textured landscape of the swamp reveals itself through the flight of herons and egrets. Biodiversity unfolds in the small hideaways where the ecosystem breathes, revealing a raw side of the coast that moves at the pace of the tides rather than the city's urban pulse.
This journey is an immersion into the contemporary meaning of conservation in Colombia. It reveals how territory and identity are inseparable, as the recovery of the mangroves mirrors the resilience of the families who call this village home. To traverse these channels is to support a local economy that values the balance between human labor and the preservation of the landscape, making the experience an essential bridge between Cartagena's colonial history and its living, breathing present.

Important note about domestic flights
Itinerary disruptions in domestic flights in Colombia are frequent. In case the airline notifies us about a change of itinerary, we will act on our traveler's behalf to minimize the impact of this change on their trip. However, in some situations the alternatives offered by airlines might mean changes on the trip's agenda. In such cases, we will work together to make necessary rearrangements to minimize the impact of flight alterations on the trip's agenda and minimize/avoid extra costs.
NOT Included
