Duration: 7 days 6 nights

Pick up place: Hotel Calanoa Amazonas

Discover the Colombian Amazon through an immersive journey at Calanoa Lodge, where nature, indigenous culture, and wildlife come together in one of the most biodiverse places on Earth. Explore pristine rainforest trails, navigate hidden waterways by boat and canoe, search for pink river dolphins, visit traditional Indigenous communities, observe colorful macaws, and experience the magic of the jungle after dark. Complete your adventure with a visit to the charming riverside town of Puerto Nariño and the spectacular Tarapoto Lakes, home to one of the Amazon's most important wetland ecosystems.

Journey into the heart of the Colombian Amazon and experience one of the world's greatest natural treasures from the comfort of the award-winning Calanoa Lodge. Nestled on the banks of the Amazon River and surrounded by pristine rainforest, this seven-day adventure combines extraordinary wildlife encounters, Indigenous traditions, breathtaking landscapes, and unforgettable river expeditions. Your Amazon experience begins with an enchanting night walk through Calanoa's Primary Forest Reserve, guided by Indigenous experts who share their ancestral knowledge of the jungle after sunset. As darkness falls, discover a completely different world filled with the sounds of frogs, owls, nocturnal monkeys, thousands of insects, night-blooming flowers, and even bioluminescent fungi. During your stay, you'll visit nearby Indigenous communities such as Mocagua or El Vergel, where you'll gain insight into traditional Amazonian lifestyles and culture. Venture deeper into the rainforest on guided hikes through the Calanoa Nature Reserve toward Matamata Creek and the edge of Amacayacu National Park, learning about medicinal plants, rainforest ecology, local legends, and the remarkable adaptations of Amazon wildlife. Depending on seasonal water levels, part of the journey may take place through the enchanting flooded forest by canoe. Continue your exploration on Mocagua Island, home to extraordinary biodiversity and the magnificent Victoria Amazonica, the world's largest water lily. In the afternoon, cruise along the Amazon River toward the Peruvian shoreline in search of the iconic pink river dolphins, while enjoying one of the Amazon's spectacular sunsets reflected across its tranquil waters. One of the highlights of the journey is a dedicated macaw observation excursion, where you'll travel by boat to a nearby nesting site to admire up to four species of vibrant macaws alongside numerous other tropical birds in their natural habitat. Your adventure continues with a full-day excursion to the charming riverside town of Puerto Nariño, one of Colombia's most sustainable destinations, followed by a visit to the breathtaking Tarapoto Lakes, a protected Ramsar Wetland renowned for its flooded forests, exceptional biodiversity, abundant birdlife, and frequent sightings of pink and gray river dolphins. Guests may also visit the Natutama Nature Interpretation Center and enjoy panoramic views from the town's lookout point. On your final day, return to Leticia by boat. Depending on your departure schedule, enjoy a visit to the Ethnographic Museum, where you'll discover the rich cultural heritage and traditions of the Indigenous peoples who have called the Amazon home for centuries. This carefully designed itinerary offers the perfect balance of wildlife observation, rainforest exploration, cultural immersion, and peaceful moments surrounded by one of the most biodiverse ecosystems on Earth. As the Amazon changes with the seasons, activities may vary according to river levels and wildlife conditions, making every journey to Calanoa a truly unique experience.
