In 1939, El Banco de la República started a project to preserve and protect the Colombian archeological heritage. Its purpose was the acquisition, management, and exhibition of pieces of jewelry and pottery from pre-Columbian indigenous cultures. Now, this museum has the world’s largest pre-Hispanic gold collection with 55,000 pieces and 6,000 pieces that are on display in their adapted building.
On this tour, you will meet with your guide at the Museum. On this tour you will immerse into this inspiring place, visiting three different neighborhoods within the Comuna and learning beyond its history directly from impressive artists who led impactful projects that managed to transform Colombia’s most feared district.
The tour starts at the highest part of the Comuna, Nuevos Conquistadores neighborhood. At this place, you can see Medellín’s rural outskirts and have a privileged view over Comuna 13 and the entire city. Descending by foot though the intricate streets of the comuna where mass tourism has not arrived, you will learn the impressive story of how hip-hop and musical culture helped local youth and led into a more peaceful context. You will understand the dimensions of the transformation as you hear the locals narrating the rough context that they had to face years before due to gang wars, paramilitary groups, and urban guerillas.
Then, we will visit Sonbata’s urban gardening project at the roofs of local homes, and learn about the innovative model. After having a refreshing popsicle it’s time for the action. We will join one of the senior instructors of the school of arts and learn some rhythms through persuasion or dance, using the same methodology they use with local youth.
To finish off, we will walk from there to the well-know and bustling area of the comuna displaying graffities and murals depicting the story of the Comuna, and full of shops, galleries and souvenir stores. There we will see the stark contrast of the two faces of the community and get to enjoy the lively local vibe with views over the city.

Now you are ready to take off and a few steps later you will be already on your way up closer to the clouds!
Enjoy 20 minutes full of magnificent views while flying over the lush green mountains. Also, you’ll get the chance to take over the reins for a while before you fly back safely to the launching pad. To confirm the trip, you must pay a 50% of the total price as a deposit, and 50% balance 30 days before the departure. If your departure is in less than 30 days, you must confirm your trip with 100% upfront payment.
- If the trip is canceled for reasons other than "force majeure", the following cancellation penalties* will apply:
- From 0 to 10 days before the start date of the trip, 100% cancellation penalty.
- From 11 to 21 days before the start date of the trip, 70% cancellation penalty.
- 22 -31 days before the start date of the trip, 50% cancellation penalty.
- +32 days before the start date of the trip, 15% cancellation penalty.
- *Cancellation Penalty: The percentage of the total cost of the trip that Impulse is entitled to charge in case of a cancellation. The remaining percentage will be refundable.
