A taste of Change with visit to Casa de la Paz and lunch + City Tour

Start Time: 08:00

Duration: 9.5 hrs.

Experience the complex evolution of Colombia’s peace efforts on a gastronomic tour from Monserrate’s tranquil heights to the rich historical treasures of the Gold Museum. Gain insights from changemakers, artists, and chefs as you explore multiple narratives of Colombia’s story through its dynamic capital

Start your journey by ascending to the sanctuary of Monserrate, a pinnacle of spiritual significance and panoramic beauty overlooking Bogotá. Experience the tranquility and grandeur of this historic site, where the city unfolds below in a breathtaking tableau. This peaceful morning visit sets the tone for a day of deep exploration and understanding.

In the wake of the Peace Agreement signed in September 2016, which concluded over five decades of conflict and affected more than eight million victims, Colombia stands at a pivotal moment that will shape its future for decades to come. Understanding the present, healing the wounds of the past, and forging a robust peace fabric for the future require us to examine our history's immense complexity and inherent contradictions from a fresh perspective.

Our "A taste of Change" tour is crafted to explore the core narrative of Colombia’s past and present in a dynamic, interactive, and educational manner. Designed for enthusiasts of history, politics, culture, and gastronomy alike, this tour is a collaborative creation involving academics, artists, changemakers, and chefs, making it an essential experience for anyone visiting Colombia.

Journey through the key landmarks of Bogotá’s city center, starting with a stroll along Avenida Jimenez towards Plaza de Bolívar. As you traverse the historic streets, immerse yourself in the rich tapestry of stories they offer while indulging in an array of local street foods. Visit the "Fragmentos" space, an anti-monument by acclaimed Colombian artist Doris Salcedo that poignantly reflects on the country's transition towards peace (note: gallery is closed on Mondays). Enjoy a curated selection of stops to experience stories of hope articulated through exotic ice cream flavors and an exquisite assortment of chocolates.

Continue your exploration with a visit to "Casa de la Paz," a vibrant space for dialogue where you can sample craft beer produced by former FARC combatants, learning about their reintegration into society and the entrepreneurial initiatives emerging from the peace process. The journey concludes with a meal at Luz Dary’s restaurant, where her path from displacement to culinary acclaim embodies resilience, hope, and the transformative power of daily passion in the pursuit of peace.

After lunch, extend your day's adventure at the Gold Museum, home to one of the most impressive collections of pre-Hispanic gold work in the world. Discover the rich heritage and intricate craftsmanship of Colombia’s indigenous cultures, further illuminating the historical threads that weave through the nation's fabric.

This transformative journey reshapes your perception of both art and the city itself, inviting you to unleash creativity and discover the dynamic streets of Bogotá through the vibrant lens of its graffiti culture.

Day 3: Paloquemao Market Fruit Tour - Colombian Music 101

Sunday, November 8, 2026

Paloquemao Market Fruit Tour

Start Time: 08:30

Duration: 3 hrs.

Delight yourself with the flavors of exotic fruits, flowers, and herbs at Paloquemao, the country’s most traditional market, and chat with local farmers and merchants.

The fruit tour is a private experience that will engage you with the vast diversity of food, geography and cultural practices of Colombia in just one place: the Paloquemao Plaza, the only market in the world where you can find up to 67 different fruits!

An expert guide, who has worked with the market community since 2015, will connect you with farmers and merchants so that you can learn about their family businesses and community projects such as "Back to the plaza" and "Hello my friend." These initiatives were created to promote employment and the learning of a second language learning among the market’s community members.

We recommend you do not have breakfast - or at least a small one - because you will begin the experience by trying different types of bread and pastries prepared by local cooks and then you’ll walk through the stalls of flowers, plants, and handicrafts and will learn about the medicinal, gastronomic and esoteric uses of herbs and condiments. After stopping at each area of the produce section, you’ll sit down to try a banquet of 20 exotic fruits from different regions of the country. While tasting these delicious fruits, you’ll hear about Colombia’s history, present and future from the perspective of the merchants.

After you've had your fill, you’ll learn about the importance of cleaning, drying and storing the fruit seeds, as well as get some tips for eating healthier, organic and diverse. Finally, you will give a toast for Colombia, the world's fruit reserve, in an exclusive tasting of refreshing juices and fruit extracts.

Important information

  • Terrain & Physical Demand: Low physical demand. The experience involves a walk of approximately 1 km (0.62 mi) on flat, covered concrete surfaces.
